As you may have noticed, I have recently been focusing on seascapes rather than my usual stream of pet portraits. It’s been a wonderful experience and a welcomed change of pace, allowing myself to explore different techniques and ideas that I can’t really employ in a tight, realistic pet portrait. I’ve been able to go a little more wild with loose brush strokes and strong color choices. It’s very freeing to throw some paint on the palette and let the painting lead the way.
That’s not to say I’m done doing pet portraits. Those will still be available as before while I continue with this new series of work.
