From Start to Finish

This is how it works, from start to finish. It’s a long, patient progression, but it’s totally worthwhile in the end. Paintings go through such hilarious ugly stages. Mine are definitely not an exception. The first layer of color makes me want to rip my hair out (I’m looking at you, Step 4). Every. Time. Every painting. It’s always awful when neither the colors nor the saturation are anywhere near correct. It can sometimes be hard to remember that glazing is a process, and boy do I hate that word. I suppose this lesson can be applied to any part of life. Sometimes, you get lost along the way and things aren’t looking the way they should, but you get there eventually.
